SleptOn Recruiting helps high school athletes get recruited to play in college. A parent or guardian decides what we keep about their athlete and who sees it, and can change their mind at any time. We never sell anyone's information and never show ads aimed at students.
Who we are
SleptOn Recruiting is run by Watson Interactive Group, San Jose, California. Questions about this policy go to hello@sleptonrecruiting.com.
Some high schools and recruiting services use SleptOn for their own athletes, sometimes under their own name and logo (for example, "WisePreps on SleptOn"). We run the app and hold the information for them under this policy.
Who SleptOn is for
- High school athletes 13 or older, and their parents or guardians.
- Staff at high schools and recruiting services: coaches, counselors, recruiting coordinators and owners.
- College coaches, who receive profiles that a family chose to send them.
SleptOn is not for children under 13. Anyone adding a student, and every student signing up, must confirm the student is in high school and 13 or older. If we learn we have information about a child under 13, we delete it.
Nothing is kept until a parent says yes
When a student is added, or signs up, we email their parent or guardian. Until the parent consents, we keep only the names, email addresses and class year needed to ask, and the student can't fill anything in. If no parent says yes within 30 days of a family signing up on their own, we delete what was typed.
The parent makes these choices:
- Required: SleptOn may keep the athlete's recruiting profile.
- Optional: the published profile may be shared with college coaches, through a link the family sends or on their school's or service's class packet.
- Optional: the athlete's photo and social media handles may appear on the profile.
- Optional: college coaches may see the athlete's own phone number and email, so they can reach out directly. Only with the choice above.
What we collect, and why
| About | What we collect | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The student | Name, email address, high school, hometown, class year, sports, positions or events, and a phone number if the student adds one | To build their profile and let them sign in |
| The student's profile | Height, weight, GPA, SAT and ACT scores, NCAA ID, stats in their own words, college offers, links to game film, articles and other pages, social media handles, and the names and contact details of their coaches and school counselor | This is the recruiting profile college coaches look at |
| The path to college | Which NCAA eligibility steps the family or staff have ticked off, and the colleges the student is aiming at with how far each has got | To guide the family through the recruiting process. Coaches never see it |
| Parents and guardians | Name, email address, relationship to the student, and their consent choices with the date, time and wording version | To ask for consent, prove it was given, and let parents manage the profile |
| Staff | Name, email address, organization and role | To sign them in and limit what each role can do |
| Verification | Which staff member verified a height or weight (or other detail), the value, and when | So coaches can see who vouched for it |
| Sending to a college coach | The college, the coach's name and email, the family's note, when it was sent, and how many times the coach opened the link | To send the profile and show the family whether it was opened |
| Rankings and notes | Tiers and private notes that a school's or service's staff add | For that organization's own use. Families and coaches never see them |
| Security | Email sign-in links and sessions (stored only as scrambled codes), and the internet (IP) address of each sign-in, consent and view of a student's page | To keep accounts safe, stop abuse, and keep a record of who looked at what |
We don't ask for or keep birth dates, home addresses, student ID numbers, Social Security numbers, passwords or payment card numbers.
Cookies
SleptOn uses one cookie, only to keep you signed in. It lasts 30 days for families and 7 days for staff, or until you sign out. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, and no outside analytics.
Who sees what
- The student and their parents see and edit the whole profile. A student edits it only after a parent has consented.
- Staff at the student's high school or recruiting service see the profile only after a parent consents, and only for students in their own organization. What each person can do depends on their role. Tiers and private notes stay inside that organization.
- College coaches see a profile only when the family sends it to them or shares its link, or when the student's school or service shares its class packet (one page per sport and graduating class listing its athletes), and only if the parent allowed sharing with college coaches. If the student is with a school or service, its staff must publish the profile first. A coach sees the recruiting profile: name, school, hometown, class year, sport, positions, height and weight with who verified them, GPA, SAT and ACT, NCAA ID, stats, offers, links, and the coaches and counselor the family listed. A coach sees the photo and social handles, or the student's own phone and email, only if the parent allowed each. A coach never sees tiers, staff notes, the path to college, or anything about other students.
- When a family sends a profile to a coach, the email comes from SleptOn under the student's name, the parents are copied, and the coach's reply goes straight to the student and parents. So the coach does see those email addresses.
- Nobody else. SleptOn has no public search and no directory of athletes, and search engines are told not to list profile pages.
SleptOn has no private messaging. Every email from a family to a coach copies the parents.
Companies that help us run SleptOn
We use a few companies to run SleptOn. They handle information only to do that work for us, under contracts that keep it confidential:
- DigitalOcean runs our servers and database, in the United States.
- Amazon Web Services sends SleptOn's emails (sign-in links, consent requests, profiles sent to coaches) and stores our encrypted backups.
- Google Workspace holds the hello@sleptonrecruiting.com inbox, if you write to us.
We never sell it
We never sell or rent anyone's information, never use it for advertising aimed at students, and never build profiles of students for any purpose other than their recruiting. We don't share it with anyone except as this policy says. We may share information when the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or to investigate fraud or abuse of SleptOn. If SleptOn is ever sold or merged, the buyer must keep this promise, and we'll email parents first.
Withdrawing consent and deleting a profile
A parent can withdraw consent at any time from their SleptOn page. When they do, every link to the profile stops working at once, including every link sent to coaches and the class packet entry, and staff stop seeing the profile details. The information itself stays, so consent can be given again later without starting over.
To delete a student's information for good, a parent (or a student who is 18) emails hello@sleptonrecruiting.com. We confirm it's really them, then delete the profile, links, stats and consent choices within 30 days. Copies in our backups are gone within 30 more days. We keep the record of what consent was given and when, and the security log, for as long as the law requires us to show we followed the rules.
Until someone asks, we keep a profile for two years after the student's class year graduates, then delete it.
Information a coach already saw or downloaded is in the coach's hands. We can't pull it back, but we stop every link from working.
Keeping it safe
- Everything travels over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.
- There are no passwords to steal. You sign in with a link we email you, which works once and expires in 15 minutes. Consent links expire in 7 days.
- We store sign-in links and sessions only in scrambled form, so a copy of our database can't be used to sign in.
- Each staff role sees only what it needs, and we record who viewed or changed each student's information.
- The database is backed up every night. Backups are encrypted before they leave the server, with a key kept only by us, and deleted after 30 days.
No system is perfectly secure. If someone gets into information they shouldn't, we'll tell affected families and the law's required authorities as quickly as the law requires.
Your rights
A parent can see, correct, download a copy of, or delete their student's information, and withdraw consent. A student can see and correct their own profile. A student under 18 can ask us to remove anything they posted, and we will. California residents have further rights under California law, including the right to know what we collect and to have it deleted, and we won't treat anyone differently for using them.
Write to hello@sleptonrecruiting.com. We reply within 10 business days and finish within 45 days.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll email parents before it takes effect. We'll never use information we already have in a new way without asking the parent first.

This website and its waitlist
When you join the waitlist on sleptonrecruiting.com: your email address, which kind of person you are (parent, student, coach and so on), and, only if you fill them in, your school and class year. That's all. We send one email asking you to confirm, then tell you when SleptOn opens at your school. If you don't confirm within 7 days, we delete your address; once you confirm, it stays until you remove yourself, and never longer than two years. Every email we send has a link that deletes your address right away.
This website uses no cookies, ads, analytics or tracking of any kind. To stop bots, we look at the network address your signup comes from; we keep it in memory for an hour and never store it.
